Meet Our Team
Chelsie Black LAc, MTSOM
Acupuncturist/Owner
Hello! I am Chelsie Black, the owner of Healing Sanctuary RSF located in Rancho Santa Fe, California. I am a California Licensed Acupuncturist and Board Certified Herbalist who loves helping people feel well.
In my late teens I experienced a wide range of health problems. I was diagnosed with numerous food allergies, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and also Lupus. After being put on numerous rounds of antibiotics along with many other medications, I developed side effects from the medications as I declined in health. I decided at that point that it was time to try something different.
With no understanding, belief, or bias of Chinese Medicine, I went in for acupuncture for the treatment of stress and low back pain. As soon as the treatment began, I immediately felt different. I was amazed with how the treatment left me pain and stress free. I knew then that this was something I wanted to do for others, to help people feel as well as I did and I immediately signed up for acupuncture school. After deciding to get regular treatments, I found that my other symptoms such as food allergies, joint pain, fatigue, irregular periods, anxiety, and high ANA blood count started disappearing.
During school I completed over 3,500 hours of extensive didactic and clinical training in many subjects including; Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Western Medicine, and Nutrition. Since 2010 when I started acupuncture school, I have seen first hand the beneficial results of Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities. Throughout my study, I interned at different locations treating patients with various ailments. While interning at the UCSD Cancer Research Institute, I helped patients who wanted to minimize side effects of their cancer treatments including, but not limited to; insomnia, nausea, headaches, hot flashes, and constipation. At the Veteran’s Clinic, I was honored to have the opportunity to have served Veterans and their families who suffered from problems such as PTSD, shoulder pain, anxiety, and low back pain. At the UCSD Pacific Beach Clinic, I helped the homeless and underserved populations who came in with problems such as post-stroke symptoms, knee pain, schizophrenia, menopause, and depression. Through experience and extensive training, I am able to evaluate and apply treatment strategies based on my patient’s individual needs.
During a session I listen to how you are feeling and adjust the treatment to fit your individual needs. I do a blend of Japanese acupuncture which is very light and hardly felt, Chinese acupuncture, and orthopedic acupuncture for chronic pain issues. I care deeply for each of my patients and will do everything I can to help them achieve optimal health.
My patient’s find their sessions to be an experience like no other that leaves them feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. I offer acupuncture, facial rejuvenation, micro-needling, cupping, herbal medicine, and human design readings. I am so thankful that I love what I do and I enjoy it every day!
In 2021, I decided to expand to a larger location where we can provide more healing modalities and wellness related retail to help people find spiritual and mental well-being. I wanted to provide an infrared sauna to help clients minimize their toxins as well as provide pain relief and improved sleep. I am thankful to be able to have a beautiful place to work inside of Cielo Retail Shops right near Lake Hodges.
Samantha Purviance MSTOM, L.A.c.
Acupuncturist
Hello! I am Samantha Purviance MSTOM, L.A.c. I am a Wyoming native but have lived in San Diego for nearly 10 years. I am a mother to 3 beautiful children, I have an amazing and supportive husband and we love living in SoCal! Living near the beach is amazing, we love camping, hiking, anything outside. With 3 kiddos, I have had to learn to treat lots of ouchies and sickness with quickness, and remedies that don't always warrant a doctor’s visit. I am a level II Reiki Practitioner, I also recently finished a 200 hour yoga teacher training, I love meditation, crystal healing, running, staying active and working out! Alternative medicine has always been important to me, I grew up with lots of "old wives tales" type remedies that I have since learned truly work!
I knew after seeing many of my family members and friends suffer though many health issues and receive acupuncture, many were able to finally have relief from debilitating issues. This sparked my curiosity of acupuncture, so I chose to embark on learning this medicine along with massage. I felt a desire to help people, and my education began in 2012 at the Pacific College of Health and Science (Formerly Pacific College of Oriental Medicine). I completed the Associates of Applied Science degree and received my 500 hour massage certification. I recently graduated from the MSTOM program and became a Licensed Acupuncturist in February 2022. In March 2022, I will be finishing the Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine degree.
My approach to helping patients is a combination of both Eastern and Western methods. I love to incorporate methods that have been around for thousands of years, and I had great training in Japanese acupuncture modalities that aids in gentle healing. I also heavily believe in the use of adding other modalities such as cupping, moxa and gua sha to acupuncture or massage treatments, but I also love to try out new modalities as well. Its most important to me to meet the patient where they are in their journey to feeling their best. Seeing others walk out of a treatment feeling better is so humbling and amazing, I am lucky to have found this amazing medicine. To be able to share it with others is a dream!
